Mick & Judy Kemp’s story

We have had several friends who have received amazing care from St Wilfrid’s Hospice and have fundraised for them for several years. When we heard about the trail by reading an article in our local paper we set to and downloaded all of the info for all sections and plotted the routes on OS maps. We have not completed the walks in chronological order as COVID meant our travel options were limited as we were determined to use public transport to and from each section finishing with an overnight stay in Chichester for sections 25 & 26. This has been an amazing walk with some stunning countryside in areas that we had not walked through before. We experienced rain, cold, wind, sunshine (some days all four) but as Judy said, people do not choose what the weather is doing when they get ill so why should we worry.
We would like to say a big thankyou to FSH for devising the trail and providing such accurate detailed routes which for most sections were easy to follow bearing in mind they were written several years ago and things change. So many people we met on the way were interested in what we were doing and some said they would like to do it themselves so we hope they enjoy it as much as did.
We will be donating around £500 to St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne and would like to thank all of our sponsors, family and friends for their support.
